Taobao Live New Marketing Strategy Helps Brands Kick Off Cross-border Overseas Business

On the afternoon of April 19, 2019, the Qingchuang City 2019 E-commerce Ecosystem Summit (Cross-border Session) and the signing ceremony for the first Taobao Live base in Fujian Province were successfully held in Shishi Qingchuang City. Distinguished guests and leaders attended the meeting, including Fu Guangwei, Executive Vice President of the China Textile Engineering Society; Huang Chunhui, Mayor of Shishi Municipal People's Government; Huang Jinba and Nian Xueqing, Deputy Directors of the Quanzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce; Qiu Yongfeng, Vice Mayor of Shishi; and Zhao Yuanyuan, Head of Taobao Live. The event invited seven major mainstream cross-border e-commerce platforms (Amazon, LightInTheBox, Ezbuy, eBay, Shopee, Umka, and Wish) and twenty major cross-border service providers (specializing in logistics, payment settlement, training, intellectual property, etc.) to explore innovative scene-based marketing tools and analyze e-commerce prospects in international markets with local e-commerce professionals.

Chen Yang, Vice President of the Fujian Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade, stated that e-commerce development drives platform upgrading, service innovation, and marketing tool innovation. As a new model of scene-based marketing, Taobao Live promotes product sales and circulation through improved content and visual marketing, while also driving the growth of the influencer economy.

"The establishment of Taobao Live in Qingchuang City marks the first officially authorized apparel base in Fujian Province. Shishi's complete upstream and downstream textile ecological chain determines the competitiveness of its menswear products. A second highlight of the summit was the relay of information from cross-border platforms and service providers, collectively helping to kickstart the "cross-border journey" for Shishi merchants. At the summit, attendees learned about high internet penetration in Russia, explored user profiles and popular products in Southeast Asian countries (such as Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia), and experienced the Amazon e-commerce market in Europe, America, and Japan.
